Project 365

Soooo....im a little late getting started on my 365 project, but i guess better late then never. I got the idea from a fellow mommy blogger and facebook friend, and was imspired as i felt like the last year flew by so fast that i cant allow the same to happen this year. I want to be able to look back on my daughters first year of life and remember the laughs and smiles and milestones. Thanks to the mobile blogger app i will HOPEFULLY be more succesful in posting my daily goings-on. I never could have imagined how busy i would be as a mom of a two month old. I feel like the day goes by, im running around with my head cut off, but nothing gets done. Atleast with my blog and my 365 project I'll be able to chronicle my crazy nothingness! Look for my 365 project on my profile page :-)

Times, they are a-changin....

I've promised myself for about two weeks now that I would start my blog, as the days are just flying by. I never thought twice about blogging before now, I guess I didnt think I'd have anything to say or maybe didnt think anyone would read it. As i think about that thought process now it seems a little silly...because who do we blog for if not for ourselves??

Now, its firstly for me-as i cannot possibly fathom how it is suddenly January 17th, and how my beautiful baby girl is TWO MONTHS OLD...already. The last year totally passed me by...but this one, I wont let that happen. Not atleast without writing down every possible detail to look back upon and cherish one day.

So much has changed in the last year. One year ago TODAY i was in Mortant Plant Mease hospital being detoxed off of a battery of crazy meds that my even crazier doc had put me on under the pretense i was "bipolar". No Sir just because I am emotional and occasionally have an ADD moment does not mean I'm bipolar and does not give you the green light to sedate me , they only made me hallucinate. Three days from today, will be one year from the day i met the love of my life. Call it fate, call it irony, call it what you will, but i went out that night with no intentions of meeting anyone, infact the *Mouse* and I had made a vow to have fun and enjoy ourselves just as we were, no need for any gentlemen callers. But there he was, bright blue eyes and a million dollar smile. From that day on i never looked back. Never thought of the past or anyone in it, Never had any regrets or second thoughts. For the first time in my short 20-some years I was HAPPY. Not just happy, completely content.

March 13,2010. After a glass of wine with dinner made me sick as a dog, we took that fateful trip (in a cab of course-talk about awkward lol) to CVS. $37 and 3 plastic sticks later, we were on our way home. I never could have prepared my self to see those 8 flashing letters, yes-a digital test and i STiLL took all three. At that moment i became a mom. I might not have felt like one or thought of my self as one, but i was, i was growing inside of me what would in 9:5 short months soon become this little pudgy wudgy lil thing asleep beside me. Gawsh.... some life changing plastic huh?

November 15th, 9 days past my EDD....i was three days away from having to be induced, and after tons of raspberry tea, primrose oil, black cohosh and QuaiDon- there were still no signs that labor was near ,wasnt even dilated. My midwife suggested that i try castor oil (insert gasp and scolding finger here). I took the suggested dose and waited. And waited. And waited. 6 hours later as i put the last ball on my christmas tree, the first contractions began. At first i was so thrilled just to know i was in labor it never occured to me that they would soon become very intense. 8 hours, stripped membranes and contractions 2 minutes apart, labor was intense, and i wasnt even dilated 2 cm. What was supposed to be a beautiful home birth was turning into stress and insecurity. Nevertheless i wound up making thee 6 minute car ride to the hospital because i didnt think i could handle the pain. It was the longest 6 minutes of my life and the roads were old and brick and bumpy. BOOO.

At 5:45 pm on November 16, 2010....god placed in my arms the sweetest little thing id ever laid eyes on. I know every parent thinks their child is perfect, and im one of them....she is. I promise ill get a little more in depth on the birth story later... I still havent come to terms with what occured. It wasnt what i had planned. It wasnt what i wanted or how i wanted my daughter to come into this world. But she is here safe and healthy, i guess thats what matters.

I also promise that in the future my blogs will contain a little less history and a lot more here and now. I am in the process of developing a website devoted to "crunchy" mamas, green and attached parenting and alternative products. If you have any input or ideas id love to hear some. Not that anyone is reading this at the moment, i guess you could say im thinking ahead.

Lastly, before i post my first ever blog... who am i? Well firstly i am a mom. A breastfeeding. Babywearing, clothdiapering attached and involved mom. A mom of one beautiful baby girl and part time mom to a rambunctious soon-to-be 9 year old step son. Did i think that on January 1st, 2010 that i would be where i am today? No. Could i ever have imagined in one year my life could change so drastically, and so amazingly? Definitely not. Would i go back and do it all over? You bet your ass i would.

Crunchy mama signing off.....
Till next time folks!
